Today marks the debut of the Guest Curator section on Diamond Atlas.

Every so often, an artist/band will come and invade the blog with a curated guest post. The rules are simple: there is none.

Just make sure it’s amazing.

First up is Mirror Kisses. This duo’s revivalist…

If you can’t make it that’s too bad but here’s a new short video we made:

//NEW VISIONS// MIRROR KISSES - WE’LL KEEP LIVING

Considering that the jams coming from Mirror Kisses sound like a sunny day hangout between Bowie and Human League, it only makes sense we start things off at the beach.

Water skiing, dancing robots, chereographed friendship circles; everyone is having the best time.

The split LP with Kid Gardens is called Dance Decree/Light Hearted.

It’s truely on another level.

Shimmering, revivalist synth pop that’s both nostalgic and slightly futuristic. Prepare to be blown away after the first listen.

For future releases, keep your eyes on their website.

Mirror Kisses - We’ll Keep Living [VHS]

This Harrisonburg, Virginia duo worship at the alter of Human League and Pet Shop Boys and probably feel like they were born 30 years too late. This cut-up jolly jet skiing video matches the era nicely - but I wonder if these neon jocks’ hair isn’t quite spiked enough for the new wave.

Pick up their new split Dance Decree LP w Kid’s Garden on ultra-ltd vinyl from their Bndcmp.

Today we have officially released our vinyl LP ‘Dance Decree.’ Click ‘Merch’ above to listen and buy the record, limited to only 100 copies. Check out the new music video for the last track on the album, ‘We’ll Keep Living.’

‘Kameron’, the awesome track from newcomers duo Mirror Kisses is a resurrection of ’80s new wave music, evoking images of faded denim and fuchsia windbreakers. Or in the case of this music video, an early documentary style cut of ‘Point Break’.  Like other artists steeped in ’80s nostalgia, Mirror Kisses emulates this era through shimmering synths and reverbing vocals. What sets them apart from other indie nostalgia-pop is their ability to make it sound completely honest and genuine. Jump over to soundcloud to get ‘Kameron’ for free.

Mirror Kisses - “Kameron”

Virginia’s Mirror Kisses told us how much they liked our most recent compilation Midnight Cassette in an email and said that they ended up writing “Kameron” especially for our blog as a result of listening to it so many times. We couldn’t be more impressed and flattered at the same time because they nailed it. “Kameron” definitely emulates everything we love about dreamy electronic music; sweeping synths and reverbed vocals with hints of ’80s pop and new wave aesthetics is the way to go, and the duo are masters of this craft. More impressively, the accompanying video they made for the track is something we’d totally dig—they know us far too well for not having met us at all.

Be sure to check out the duo’s (a.k.a. George Clanton & Doug Sexton) previous album Soaking Wet which was released back in 2008 and be on the lookout for their new split album with Kid’s Garden called Dance Decree on vinyl and digital download set to drop in a few days on November 14th. In the meantime, you can grab this amazing new track via Soundcloud.
